The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
