Frustration for Forest's Manager as Swansea Stun Forest with Late Turnaround
The Forest boss, hands rooted in pockets, was visibly stunned in disbelief as he walked on to the pitch at the final whistle.
Swansea had just pulled off an incomprehensible turnaround to advance to the Carabao Cup fourth round, scoring two goals in the final four minutes of added time.
The Forest striker scored his first goals for the club to earn a comfortable interval lead, but the manager will have to wait for his initial win in charge.
Postecoglou seemed to accept responsibility for the breakdown, gesturing at his own role as he went to thank the away fans.
“We put them through a tough night,” Postecoglou said. “We are out of a cup competition we should have progressed in.”
Before Zan Vipotnik equalised in the final moments, it seemed that Postecoglou would chalk up his debut victory.
The home side were stunned when the striker levelled, and staggered when the visitors' captain, Cameron Burgess, netted his winning goal in spectacular fashion.
“It was a moment of pure emotion,” the Swansea head coach said. “I was looking at the clock because Forest that can put the ball in the top corner.”
Things looked ominous for the Championship side when, down by a pair of first-half goals, Postecoglou introduced impact players.
However, Burgess pulled a goal back soon after, heading in a set-piece.
The Swansea goalkeeper made a big save to deny Callum Hudson-Odoi, but Forest failed to capitalize to seal victory.
“Nothing will come easy,” Postecoglou added. “It’s not just going to come to us.”
